Message from Cheri Honderd,Hand2Hand Executive Director
At Hand2Hand, the health of our community is our top priority. Our mission is to make sure kids, ages 3-18, in West Michigan continue to have access to a healthy food resource. Even with the recent turn of events in our communities pertaining to the Coronavirus, hunger is still of large concern. Hand2Hand is passionate to continue providing food to those facing food insecurity during this pandemic.
Hand2Hand is doing all we can to ensure our 7,833 students in 208 schools are still receiving food. Hand2Hand partners a local church with their local school to pack and distribute weekend food. As of Saturday, March 21, Hand2Hand has distributed 3 weeks worth of food to our church partners, which allows our church partners to continue to provide food during this time to their local communities.
In order to adhere to the guidelines set in place by our government, we have created a process for those who would still like to be involved during this time. For those who are looking to donate food, please visit our website here for instructions on how to do so. Financial donations are critical at a time like this and are greatly appreciated. Your donation allows us to continue purchasing and distributing food to our supporting churches so that they can best meet the needs of their neighborhood. Thank you for your continued support and prayer during this time. I truly am grateful for the thousands of volunteers and donors who link arms with us so that every child has an opportunity to thrive in school and in life, which results in a brighter tomorrow!
Because a hungry child hurts,
